SWEET BREATH of MEMORY celebrates a unique group of people whose creativity, camaraderie and compassion define the New England town of Amberley.  In the novel, we meet sisters-in-arms who have mothered, married and mourned America’s warriors.  Rather than embrace victimhood, these women find the courage to share their stories.  In so doing, they come to understand both the healing power of narrative and the strength of friendship.

SWEET BREATH of MEMORY also reinterprets the Jewish  mystical concept of tikkun ha-olam – repair of the world.  Each broken in some way, the novel’s characters nevertheless strive to affect repair of their lives, loves and community.
